Plano (2001)

Plane (2001)

On the aerial photographs taken from the highest spot of Paris, I drew an incomplete and inexact plane/plan of the city. On the photographic plane I arbitrarily marked the points which correspond to the “impasses” in the real plan of Paris, connecting them with red lines. I intended to decipher the routes marked by the red lines by trying to walk them through the city. During the walks I photographed from above some of the sidewalks along my route. The photographic installation is composed of the photos arranged into lines that correspond to each one of my walks. The bottom margin of each photograph is inscribed with the name of the street where the photo was taken.

Sidewalk photographs 7 cm x 20 cm each and  aerial photographs 18 cm x 35 cm each.

Gelatin silver prints, pencil and crayon.
